We’re happy to announce that the winner of Tech LDN Apprentice of the Month is Sam Stone @ Simply Business!
LDN Apprenticeships highlights a clear message of what makes an AWESOME Apprentice; they must show energy, enthusiasm, willingness to learn, ability to take feedback and propensity to take action (EEWAP). Read Sams’s nominationbelow:
Energy: Sam shows a great amount of energy and determination when it comes to problem solving and investigating new unknown projects. He doesn’t give up until he finds a way to complete his objective. No matter what deadlines he is working to, Sam is always willing to help anyone else in the team with any problem or question that they may have.
Enthusiasm: He is very enthused by all things Tech, Infosec and Data! He has demonstrated that he can brief senior peers within the company with a project in a very clear and concise way, this is great progress. Sam always turns up to work on time and gives 100% every day. Plus he always makes us laugh!
Willingness To Learn: He is curious and continually learning, he always asks himself the question or to his peers to really understand what he is working with, this is a fantastic trait to have! Sam wants to know it all, I can tell that he is pushing himself to learn as much as he can while he is on this apprenticeship with LDN Apprenticeships and Simply Business. Examples of this is that he listens in closely with our Infosec team to understand it more and in any spare time, he does further self-learning through online courses.
Ability To Take Feedback: When Sam first started, he shared that he had only ever worked on projects by himself so therefore hadn’t needed to communicate with anyone about progress or take any feedback. Now, he works in a team and I regularly give him constructive feedback to polish his strong skills. He has really improved at listening to feedback, showing that he understands and fundamentally takes action on feedback.
Propensity To Take Action: I couldn’t be happier about Sam’s ability to independently take action using his own initiative to find the best solution! An amazing example of this is his project to rebuild the monthly Newsletter that gets sent to nearly a 1 million subscribers. He has taken the time to learn a new code language so that he could use it to implement his new audience selection queries, built in Looker. As nobody in our team has yet become versed in this, I’ve asked him to obtain a peer review from our Head of Analytics. This is outstanding, Sam has not stuck to what we know and do today, and has gone away to learn and build new logic that we can use going forward, he deserves huge kudos for this!
