Business and Professional Administration

Level 4 (13 months)

Practical

Apprentices will cover practical content in four core areas. These include resolving business problems, managing the work of an administrative function, communicating in a business environment and planning professional development. Apprentices will be given the opportunity develop a range of technical skills and behaviours that will support their current job roles and long term career progression.

Theory

Apprentices will study compulsory theoretical concepts including understanding organisations, effective communication in business, business ethics, personal and professional development & resource management. This gives apprentices a good grounding, helping them to understand the wider business world.  Apprentices will be introduced to concepts such as external factors affecting businesses, business communication strategies and project management techniques.

Additional Practical Content

Apprentices will have the opportunity to choose from a broad range of practical topics typically related to the business and their role.  These include contributing to the improvement of business performance, negotiation skills and using, managing and monitoring information systems. Apprentices will be given the opportunity to develop work-based projects and to apply theoretical learning into a real-world business context.

Additional Theoretical Content

Apprentices can choose from a broad range of units related to their role or future career aspirations, the options available include problem solving and decision making, recruitment and selection of staff, business law, planning and managing customer service, knowledge management and planning and implementing change.

Customer Care, Communication and Security

Every business needs to be able to attract, retain and develop customer relationships. This module supports Project Admin Apprentices to use communication tools including email, CRM Systems & databases, to gather & share customer information to manage & develop customer relationships.

Personal and Business Growth

Effective employees are aware of their own personal and professional development, as well as the business’ development and growth. Therefore, our apprentices learn to work effectively and professionally, being aware of their responsibilities in the workplace and contribute to innovation & business development.

Project Planning and Implementation

Apprentices will develop an understanding of the Project Lifecycle, Agile methodology, the importance of budgeting and forecasting, and using Trello to manage and organise their projects. They will be able to apply this at work and to a project set by the employer and Learning and Development Specialist.

Productivity Software

Modern software used for productivity has the potential to completely change the way a business operates. This module delivers advanced training to Apprentices in Email, Word Processing, Spreadsheet and Presentation Software as well as collaborative tools such as Trello and Slack.

Productivity Software for Finance

Modern software used for productivity has the potential to completely change the way a business operates. This module delivers advanced training to Finance Apprentices covering common accounting packages such as Sage, Xero, and Quickbooks. It also develops Apprentice’s skills in using Email, Word Processing, Spreadsheet, and Presentation Software.

Personal & Business Growth

Effective employees are aware of their own growth, as well as the development and growth of the business that they are working in. The Digital Finance Apprenticeship teaches learners to work effectively and professionally, being aware of their responsibilities and contributing to innovation & business process development.

Customer Care & Communication

Digital Finance Apprentices develop a strong understanding of the importance of communicating effectively and the need for providing effective customer service to the common customers of a finance team – including suppliers, customers, and internal contacts. Using appropriate communication tools, Apprentices develop the skills to manage & develop relationships.

Productivity Software

Digital Client Services Apprentices will be guided through areas of using IT effectively to provide a service to clients. Over the course of the Apprenticeship,  learners will cover IT tools, such as MS Excel, & presentation software to collect, analyse and communicate customer data to improve the effectiveness of the business.

Processes, Data and Security

Successful customer relationships require an understanding of business processes.  Apprentices will complete an investigation of requirements for an IT system in the workplace. They will be able to evaluate the current system, recognise problems, & produce a requirements specification for the proposed solution.
