We’re happy to announce that the winner of Future LDN Apprentice of the Month is Samuel Edwards @ Digital Catapult.
LDN Apprenticeships highlights a clear message of what makes an AWESOME Apprentice; they must show energy, enthusiasm, willingness to learn, ability to take feedback and propensity to take action (EEWAP). Samuel’s nomination is below:
Energy: Samuel is our youngest team member, but is mature for his age. The team couldn’t believe that he turned 18 last month and I expect the visitors that he deals with daily would be surprised. Samuel is our front of house coordinator which requires him to greet visitors and help them with their queries. He treats everyone – our regulars and first timers – with respect. People want to talk to him because he has such a lovely disposition and is always cheerful.
Enthusiasm: Often Samuel will offer to come in early when he knows we will be busier than usual. We say no but he still turns up early, which is always appreciated. He’ll happily do extra tasks that are not in his job description without being asked to. Visitors are drawn to him because he makes them feel welcome.
Willingness To Learn: Twice so far Samuel has worked with other teams (design and the events teams) to get a better understanding of what we do. On both occasions he wrote detailed reports explaining what he learned; plus the experience has helped him with his existing role.
Ability To Take Feedback: Samuel wants to learn and is always open to suggestions. He will also suggest ways that he thinks can improve how he works.
Propensity To Take Action: We are changing the way we track visitors and meeting room usage. Samuel came up with two excellent ideas that will be introduced next month: that we receive allowance alerts for visitors who have a room usage limit, and that when booking a room in the calendar that it automatically goes into Salesforce. In the meantime, he has been monitoring room and hot desk usage, which can be time consuming.
