The Lvl 5 Digital Learning Designer Apprenticeship is here!
This September, we inducted the very first Digital Learning Designer Apprentices in the country as they begin their apprenticeship journey on the brand new level 5 standard.
We’ve got a fantastic group of apprentices joining the programme from a variety of different industries and businesses, including South West Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, Tesco Bank, Pearson, Allpay, CILEX, Housing 21, Socotec and Refuge.
We talked to some of our new DLD Apprentices as well as their line managers about joining the Digital Learning Designer apprenticeship and the impact introducing the programme into their teams will have.

During my time studying for a Learning and Development Practitioner Apprenticeship, I discovered how much I enjoyed the development side of course creation. I was always asking questions and exploring new avenues to make the content more interactive, more creative and more appealing to the delegates.
I’m so excited to get started on structuring my learning and developing my talent within this Digital Learning Designer Apprenticeship, Thank you LDN for providing this amazing opportunity and to be one of the first is so awesome as well.
I have always found that continuing learning is a passion of mine. I am currently working in a Learning and development role, focusing on looking for innovative processes to improve the user experience and provide engaging content for the office.
The Digital Learning Designer apprenticeship tied perfectly into my current role, upcoming projects and my future career path and I cannot wait to get started!
I chose this course as I feel it would be an awesome way to consolidate what skills and knowledge, I have of Digital Learning Design.
Very excited to learn so much more about Digital Learning Design - as is the nature of the beast with all areas of design, you can never sit still and assume that what you know is the most current and best way!
I’m very excited to meet other creative minded people and share experiences all the time whilst learning about this subject.
I’m very excited to start the LDN Digital Learning Design Apprenticeship because I will develop skills that will not only help me thrive in my current role, but will show me exciting new areas I had never imagined my career could go in.
It feels like a fantastic time to delve into this field with how technology and learning is developing, and when I heard I was going to be one of the first cohorts on the course in the country it made it an extra special opportunity. I’m ready to get started!
We also caught up with some of the Line Managers of our DLD Apprentices who outlined how the programme will benefit their team. Looking specifically at the course in terms of progression, upskilling and personal development within their team.

The Digital Learning Design Apprenticeship has come at the perfect time for one of our team members as they continue their first steps into a career as a learning and development specialist. As an organisation, allpay is working towards a digital learning first strategy.
As a team, therefore, we are excited to see what modern technology and emerging trends can be learnt through the apprenticeship alongside building knowledge and skills around the key aspects of adult learning theory and instructional design. As technology evolves learning teams will need to adapt to how learners want to engage in content, this new apprenticeship standard should help L&D professionals meet these challenges.
Absolutely delighted that Phill is embarking on this Apprenticeship, as a key member of our newly formed Learning Experience Team, Phill will be at the forefront of designing, curating and promoting an engaging digital learning experience for our varied workforce.
The knowledge skills, confidence and engagement this qualification will further enhance Phill’s skillset is one that I as his manager cannot wait to tap into, hear more about and enhance Housing 21’s learning delivery.
We are really excited about Charlotte starting her DLD apprenticeship in September with LDN. The programme is a perfect fit in terms of both Charlotte’s individual development needs and also supporting the team and the wider organisation achieve its strategic aims moving forward.
The team at LDN have made the sign-up process very simple and have listened to our needs at every stage. We look forward to working with LDN over the coming months to provide Charlotte with a first-class experience in this brand new programme.
