October Apprentice of the Month

Asher Burley

We are pleased to announce the winner of the LDN Apprentice of the Month for October is Asher Burley, Business Administration Apprentice @ Warner Bros.

Nominated by Skills Coach Steve, Asher is fast approaching his end point assessment and has shown incredible determination and drive throughout his apprenticeship journey - resulting in a brilliant nomination and fantastic feedback from his line manager!

Check out all the awesome nominations we received in October as well as Asher’s winning nomination below.

Asher’s Skills Coach:

Asher has been the epitome of professionalism, politeness and calmness throughout his Apprenticeship from the very beginning, right to the latter stages as we are approaching now.

Asher has always strived for perfection in anything he does, but he is humble enough to listen to constructive feedback on any aspect of what he has completed. Even when he was a little behind, he showed determination and drive to get right back on track with his targets.

He is doing a sterling job at work, where he has built up an excellent reputation for the high standards he sets himself. Asher is one of the nicest, most engaged learners I am working with and deserves to receive the accolade of Apprentice of the Month, which he could have received at any point during his journey.

Asher’s Line Manager:

How have they improved/impacted the business and the team since they started their apprenticeship?

Asher has consistently improved from the moment he started his apprenticeship with the European Theatrical Distribution team. He has always been open to listening to more senior colleagues, taking their instructions and advice on board, and then going forward on his own initiative to perform the tasks at hand. In a very short time, he has become an integral and trusted part of the team, contributing in meetings and specific projects to a very high standard. He has been fully engaged in the work of the department and has so seamlessly fitted in that despite being the junior member of the team he took the lead in helping onboard our new intern, providing advice, support and guidance as she got to grips with her new role.

What three words best describe them?

Conscientious - Asher always applies himself to every task he is given and makes sure the work is done on time and correctly. He always goes the extra distance in a project and has a great eye for detail, working on involved and complex spreadsheets containing a lot of information that has to be 100% accurate.

Collaborative – Asher is always a great person to work with and has worked on different tasks with everyone in the team, giving his thoughts and input to help with decision-making.

Confident – He has thrown himself into the role and is confident in contributing to team discussions and wider meetings with senior leadership. He helped manage a licensee event with a number of people from across Europe and engaged with different people from different countries and levels of seniority and experience confidently and respectfully. He also presented during a recruitment process for our new intern.

An example of an outstanding piece of work, project or task they have worked on.

A project that Asher has really taken on and made his own is the Monthly Box Office & Admissions update for the Cinema Industry and Warner Bros specifically in all our European markets. Asher not only diligently ensured (and continues to ensure) that all the details were collected in a timely manner and presented in a reader-friendly way, but he also took the initiative to present the data in different ways to help make trends in the data clearer and more instructive. This report has gone from being something that was not being utilised fully to one that is consulted regularly and that provides information that is used in a number of conversations with different European markets, and that is down to Asher’s efforts and ingenuity.

Our runner-up for this month is LDN Apprentice Ryan Speight! Ryan was nominated by LDN Skills Coach Maggie and backed up by excellent feedback for his work at OCS.

Ryan’s Skills Coach:

Ryan has always impressed me with his levels of professionalism, inquisitiveness and determination. He is calm, and resilient and takes a lot of pride in the work he completes. He has become an integral part of the OCS PM/BA team and is highly regarded by his peers, often representing OCS with recruitment, stakeholder management and being an apprenticeship advocate. Ryan goes above and beyond both in the workplace and on his apprenticeship and has produced some outstanding pieces of work, always exceeding expectations and submitting his work early.

Ryan’s line manager:

Always a positive influence on the team, often jumping on calls with others within the cohort to help them out if they need support. He has excelled within his client OCS, with his hard work and influence resulting in OCS wanting to hire more Ryans from us! He’s managing a project with a £300,000 budget, alongside a high-profile government project. Being trusted with both is a testament to his hard work.

Here’s what was said about the other brilliant nominees:

Peter Hodgson @ Somerset Council

Since Peter started the Digital Design Course, his enthusiasm has been apparent. Peter has shared his learning and links to useful material with his immediate team, the wider business area we sit within, and also to other teams he recognises may benefit. In our team, we have all learnt from Peter individually, and for the development of our service, and expect to continue to do so.

Aurimas Rakauskas @ Bates Wells

Aurimas is doing an exceptional job in our ServiceDesk team. His efficiency in handling ServiceDesk tickets and answering calls to assist users has been remarkable. Additionally, Aurimas has shown great initiative by helping users with various software issues and creating detailed documentation on how to use the software. This documentation has been incredibly helpful and has been shared with the entire team. His dedication and proactive approach are highly appreciated.

James O’Connor @ Align JV

James joined us in a new apprenticeship role that split his time between the managers for L&D and Schools, Education and Employment. He took to both really well and we found that his natural style suited both brilliantly. Thanks to his hard work he’s become the first point of contact for training logistics with our staff and training providers and he’s become the face of our work experience visits. His work particularly with local schools’ careers events has been well received with one career lead talking about how his energy and enthusiasm which the students really warmed to.
