July Apprentice of the Month - Rahul Pithia
We are happy to announce that the winner of the LDN Apprentice of the Month is Rahul @ Mentor IMC!
Nominated by LDN Business Administration Skills Coach, Mati Gono - Rahul was able to win the award second time round after being nominated last month as well.
We received some awesome feedback from Rahul's line manager and Head of Finance at Mentor, Julien De Sousa, which you can read below!
Rahul’s Skills Coach:
Rahul has been consistent throughout the apprenticeship and has developed his skills. He is always keen to get on with is work and was a pivotal member of the third Thursday last month, where he helped support his fellow apprentices. He has since been offered a full time contract from Mentor international and this month’s review was a 10/10 from both his manager and myself!
Rahul’s line manager:
Rahul is one of the most brilliant junior members of staff I have ever met and definitely a strong member of our team.
Energy:
Rahul from day one impressed us with his incredible energy. He is the first to arrive at the office and he consistently manages to keep the level high through the work he does. So from now, most of the missions entrusted to him are carried out as quickly as we, more senior members, do.
Enthusiasm:
Rahul is the kind of person who has the right attitude: always positive, smiling, with the right approach and sharing his joy of life. This is definitely the key to excellent integration. And when he's not there, you realise that someone is missing, proof that he has become a pivotal member of our team.
In addition to the above, I must admit how impressed I am as Rahul is always keen to go through some complex situations we face sometimes with our clients, tax advisors or vendors. He is always happy about “work completed”. Really impressive.
Willingness To Learn:
Rahul is a typical learner. Always challenging us to get new skills and help our Group Management Accountant and the Head of Finance. He always wants to support us and is career-focused. After a year, he will easily be able to describe your complex technical financial subject easily and be directly facing tax advisors, or bank worldwide fixing situations. It is not quite common to find people who are able to switch ten times a day from a Trinidad, UK, US, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Australia.. with other VAT rules, Taxation rules, Banking specifies.
He is so motivated to learn that we think now he is ready to start studying CIMA and will support him toward this new goal. But I’m afraid he would finish this really quickly as he has this capability to go through subjects really quickly!
Ability To Take Feedback:
Throughout this year has been a great opportunity for Rahul as he has gained exposure to many different aspects of accounting. He can work under low supervision, but he does love to receive feedback and improve his skills. We have been working on an implementation of bank accounts from Malaysia, Korea and Singapore onto our online banking platform.
I am not sure a lot of senior financial key people understand the banking system as well as he does. With a few guidelines, he manages to contact the right person to understand the concept and can put in place a new solution which will help us to make sure we protect the company against fraud. You can easily understand how positive it is for me to share my experience and provide feedback to someone who really takes it onboard.
Propensity To Take Action:
During this last year, Rahul has gained a lot of experience while continuing to develop his problem-solving skills. Rahul not only regularly uses his own initiative with tasks and taking on new tasks where he sees fit, but he brings a solution to a problem and does not just bring a problem to the table. He actively gets involved throughout all aspects of the workplace and his help and conscientiousness have been noted throughout the company.
A good example would be when he started training our two new starters last week when he saw we were really busy with the quarter closing. It is quite unbelievable to listen to him explain the processes in an easy way, explaining the control points and reverting to us to know if it is ok to keep on training the new starts. It shows how he managed to build confidence and how much we trust him.
As you can see, Rahul is a talent – and when we saw how brilliant he has been during the Covid-19 outbreak, we can easily show that he has a really bright future ahead!
Our runner up for this month is Elliot Mitchell at Simply Business, who was nominated by our Digital Marketing Skills Coach! With feedback provided by Elliot’s line manager and Senior SEO Manager, Jerry Clark.
Elliot’s Skills Coach:
He has performed consistently well for the last few months and has taken on board much of the feedback from our recent coaching sessions. Elliot has shown a real enthusiasm for learning new skills and knowledge, such as the programme language Ruby, as well as the ability to solve problems independently and to use his initiative more often.
Elliot’s line manager:
Elliot has shown time and again his ability to pick up tasks quickly and run with them autonomously. Working in a fast paced business environment it’s a vital skill to have in order to assess and make decisions quickly to move forward and it feels a natural part of Elliot’s tool kit. It’s also critical that as part of a small team within a big business we were going to need him to be functioning to a certain level quickly and he more than matched up to the challenge.
Elliot always comes into work with a positive attitude, a thirst for knowing more and keenness to support and help out across the business. It’s great to see that he always takes a positive approach in any situation, whether this is in jumping on new tasks or understanding developmental feedback. It’s also a very natural skill Elliot has in wanting to support and help out where he can to aid the team or other colleagues.
